《滕王阁序》中颜色词的英译策略对比研究

A Comparative Study of Translation Strategies for Color Terms in a Tribute to Kingteng’s Tower

摘要:

《滕王阁序》作为中国古代文学的经典之作,文中丰富精妙的颜色词为文本增添了独特的艺术魅力。文章以《滕王阁序》中的颜色词为研究对象,选取罗经国、赵小杰《滕王阁序》英译本,对比探讨译者在处理不同类型颜色词时所采用的英译策略。研究发现译者在处理文化负载词时,多采用异化的翻译策略,力求在传递原文文化内涵的同时,减少目标语读者的理解障碍;而对于描述性颜色词,归化策略则更能保留原文的意象美感与语言特色。

Abstract:

As a classic work of ancient Chinese literature, A Tribute to KingTeng’s Tower is endowed with unique artistic charm by its rich and exquisite color terms. This article takes the color terms in A Tribute to KingTeng’s Tower as the research object, selects the English translations of the work by Luo Jingguo and Zhao Xiaojie, and conducts a comparative exploration of the English translation strategies adopted by the translators when dealing with different types of color terms. The study finds that when handling culturally-loaded color terms, the translators mostly adopt the foreignization strategy, striving to convey the cultural connotation of the original text while reducing the comprehension barriers for target language readers; whereas for descriptive color terms, domestication strategy is more effective in preserving the imagistic beauty and linguistic characteristics of the original text.
